When is the Crown City Classic?

We will be hosting the 12K, 5K, and Kids 1/2 Mile run in Coronado on Friday, July 4th, 2025.

Is this Coronado’s official Independence Day Run?

Yes! The Crown City Classic is Coronado’s official Independence Day Run. 2025 marks the 52nd year of this annual race and has a great tradition of running to celebrate the 4th of July in Coronado – “the Crown City”.

Can I volunteer?

We have opportunities for volunteering at packet pick up prior to race day as well as race day itself. Join in the fun and excitement of the Crown City Classic by becoming a volunteer!

Where do I get my premium parking pass?

SOLD OUT – You MUST pick up PREMIUM PARKING at packet pick up on June 28 (Road Runner Sports) or July 3 (Tidelands Park).

The premium parking is limited to 140 spots. You must have the physical copy of your premium parking pass to enter! Arrive before 6:30am. Once the lot is closed, it will not reopen until after the race.

Street Parking in Coronado is free but will be very limited on Independence Day weekend. If you do not purchase parking, please arrive early and plan to walk or jog between 1/2 and 1 mile to the park.  Thanks!

How do I get my ferry tickets?

You MUST pick up ferry tickets at packet pick up on June 28 (Road Runner Sports) or July 3 (Tidelands Park). 

If you need to purchase more, follow the instructions below.

  • Sign In to RunSignUp
  • Go to your Profile
  • View your events under Upcoming Events
  • Click Manage Registration next to the registration that you are editing.
  • Click Add-On menu item located on the top OR left of Race page
  • Edit the quantity of the Add-On that you would like
  • Click Continue

I purchased "Mail My Bib" option, when will I get my bib?

Your participant’s items will be mailed to the address provided during registration approximately two weeks before the race. The deadline to purchase the Mail My Race Packet option is Monday, June 16, 2025. 

Please note that international shipping is not available.

What is the ferry schedule?

Avoid the traffic on the bridge on race day by taking the Coronado Ferry through Flagship Cruises & Events! All pre-race ferry departures will take place from the Broadway Pier. All ferry tickets MUST picked up at packet pick up on June 28 or July 3.

What are the race distances?

12K (7.4 mile run), 5K (3.1 mile run), and Crown City Kids Half Mile.

Why the 12K Distance?

A 12K is 7.4 miles, a distance all patriotic runners achieve on Independence Day!

Two other “classic” running events in America are also 12K’s, Bloomsday and Bay to Breakers. Never run a 12K? Great news, you will achieve a personal best after finishing this event!

What is the 5K/12K course time limit?

The 5K course will have a 90 minute time limit. 12K runners/walkers are required to maintain 14 minute/mile or faster pace to comply with roads reopening schedule. Additionally, there will be an option for 12K walkers to start at 6:40 AM.

Is there a designated Beer Garden at the event?

No, there isn’t a designated beer garden at the event. However, you’re free to enjoy the July 4th Parade and indulge in alcoholic beverages anywhere on the public streets of Coronado.

Do you have a refund policy?

All entry fees are NON-REFUNDABLE, no exceptions.

Once we receive and accept your entry, you will not receive a refund if you cannot participate. You may transfer your entry to another event, person or year for $15.

What is the race cancellation policy?

Weather, emergencies, or other issues of public safety may cause cancellation or postponement of the Event(s), outside of the control of event management. In the instance of an unforeseen event cancellation, a majority of event expenses have already incurred.

In the event the race is canceled due to weather, emergencies, or other issues of public safety, Crown City Classic will switch all entries to virtual and mail all runner items to the shipping address provided at registration.

When will I get my virtual package?

The virtual leaderboard is open! You can submit results anytime between July 1 and July 6. Virtual run packets are being mailed on Monday, June 30.
